Sheila Crider
Sheila Crider is an American abstract artist. Her interest in making abstract art stems from research conducted on the visual possibilities of language. Working with the objective of integrating image, object and frame, she explores long established techniques and materials associated with painting and drawing to sensually engage the viewer in ever-evolving dialogue.
Crider attended University of Virginia where she attained a BFA in African-American studies. Sheila was the artist in residence at Stone Quarry Hill Art Park in Cazenovia, New York in 2011; at Leighton Studios, The Banff Center in Banff, Canada in 2006; and Cite Internationale Des Arts in Paris, France in 1997.
